The definition of a closer is a person who finishes or locks up an assignment. I heard that recently on a true crime podcast. A television series appeared in 2005 about “a strong, quirky woman [who] leads an elite Los Angeles crime unit that tackles high-profile cases.” Her super power is obtaining confessions that lead to convictions. I wish there were a closer to wrap up Patty’s case neatly.
I know I should not measure the progress of this case against what’s going on in the media. But I can’t help thinking why not her? Well, one, her case is not high profile. Two, no detective has what it takes to bring the case to the DA. And that thing is evidence.
